A Persian classical pattern carried by blue, with the field drawn so the densities open and tighten across the surface to keep the eye moving rather than landing in one place. The composition was developed in a contemporary studio that draws on both traditional medallion work and mid-century European geometry. The intention was a piece that could anchor a sitting room or a primary bedroom without becoming the only thing in the room.
The rug is woven in Turkey on a high-density Jacquard loom. The yarn was engineered for the foot traffic of a working household and the cleaning cycles that come with it. The drawing is the same a higher-priced wool piece would carry, translated into a fibre that takes a much rougher life without showing it.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene engineered for high-traffic interiors. The colour was locked into the fibre during manufacture rather than applied as a finish, which gives the rug its UV stability and its resistance to staining. Common household spills wipe up with water before they soak in. The pile carries furniture without permanent compression and does not shed across the working life of the piece.
The composition
A single saturated blue ground carries the Persian classical pattern through subtle changes of tone. The composition relies on geometry rather than on colour contrast to organise the eye. The colour pairs naturally with warm wood, polished brass, and oiled leather. Avoid putting it against a strongly patterned sofa, where the two will fight for the eye.
The piece in a room
At 5' x 8' (152 x 244 cm) the rug centres a coffee table with a two-seater floating above, holds a study reading corner, or sits in a guest bedroom. The fibre carries direct sunlight, pet hair, and weekly cleaning without losing its colour. The composition adapts to the furniture in the room rather than forcing the room to adapt to it.
Care
A weekly vacuum on any setting and a damp cloth for spills cover the routine. The pile stays flat under furniture and recovers when the load comes off. For deeper cleaning, scrub gently with cool soapy water and let the rug dry flat in the sun. The fibre tolerates outdoor airing without colour loss.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Free standard delivery across mainland UK is 3–5 working days. Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland and remote postcodes typically take 5–7 working days. We’ll email a tracking link as soon as your order is dispatched.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each rug is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for £25 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp or email us with the SKU and your delivery postcode to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations you may return your order within 14 days of delivery for a full refund, in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email support@rugsville.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp with your order number and we’ll arrange a return collection. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted rugs typically take 8–14 weeks depending on size and complexity (production plus shipping to the UK). Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Do you ship to Europe / outside the UK?
Our online checkout currently ships to mainland UK only. For orders to the EU, Channel Islands or Republic of Ireland please email support@rugsville.co.uk with the SKU and full address — we’ll quote courier and any duties before processing.
