Old-world motifs translated through a contemporary studio sensibility. The colour was tested against natural daylight, lamp light, and warm LED before the production palette was locked, and the figure-ground relationship was tuned to hold across viewing distances.
The drawing for this rug was developed across several rounds of small-format samples before the production palette and scale were locked. The result reads as a graphic field built from brown and the values that surround it, designed to hold its own at room scale rather than receding into the background.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene. The colour is locked into the yarn by temperature rather than by surface dye, which is why the saturation does not fade under direct sunlight. Spilled wine, juice, oil, or coffee lifts with a damp cloth before it sets. The pile stays flat under furniture and the rug does not shed.
The composition
Botanical drawing over a brown ground that anchors the field with the warmth of walnut. Stems and blossoms drawn loosely enough to read as natural rather than as catalogue. The repeat is large enough to carry a long room without forcing the eye to count. The composition was tuned to sit beside furniture rather than to compete with it, which is why the geometry resolves quietly even when read in passing.
The piece in a room
At 5'4" × 7'6" (163 × 229 cm) the rug suits a compact living area, a primary bedroom with a queen frame, or a dining nook seating four. The brown ground holds the floor without claiming ownership of the room, and the geometry resolves cleanly when sofa legs and side tables sit on top of it. Front legs of upholstery on the rug, rear legs off, is the arrangement that lets the field read at full strength. Suits open-plan rooms where the floor needs a defined zone without a visual wall to mark it.
Care
Vacuum on any setting, including with a beater bar. Spot care by damp cloth and mild detergent is enough for most spills. Cold machine wash for stubborn stains. The rug requires no professional cleaning over its life.

Day-to-day care
- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.
- Use a quality rug pad underneath for slip resistance and to extend life.
- Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean white cloth — do not rub. Work from the edge of the spill inward.
Deep cleaning
- Professional dry-cleaning is recommended every 12-24 months for hand-knotted carpets.
- Avoid steam cleaners and hot water on natural-fibre rugs (wool, silk, jute) — they can cause shrinkage and dye bleeding.
- For washable flat-weaves and cotton dhurries, machine-wash on a gentle cold cycle in a mesh bag.
Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

How long will shipping take?
Free standard delivery across mainland UK is 3–5 working days. Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland and remote postcodes typically take 5–7 working days. We’ll email a tracking link as soon as your order is dispatched.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each rug is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for £25 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp or email us with the SKU and your delivery postcode to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations you may return your order within 14 days of delivery for a full refund, in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email support@rugsville.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp with your order number and we’ll arrange a return collection. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted rugs typically take 8–14 weeks depending on size and complexity (production plus shipping to the UK). Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Do you ship to Europe / outside the UK?
Our online checkout currently ships to mainland UK only. For orders to the EU, Channel Islands or Republic of Ireland please email support@rugsville.co.uk with the SKU and full address — we’ll quote courier and any duties before processing.
