The faded medallion drawing belongs to a tradition that runs from the Safavid court carpets through the colonial-era Persian workshops to today's design studios. The studio took six months to settle the values for this piece, with the cartoon reworked through several iterations before the colour was committed to yarn.
What the long development time delivers is a composition that reads as resolved rather than as composed. The multicolour field carries without strain, the medallion sits in proper relation to the corners, and the border closes the drawing without crowding it.
The fibre
Heat-set polypropylene yarn, woven on a jacquard loom in Turkey. The colour is locked into the fibre by temperature rather than applied as a surface dye, which is why the saturation does not fade under direct sunlight the way pigment-printed colour fades. The pile resists staining at the molecular level, recovers from furniture compression, and does not shed. The rug is built to take routine domestic traffic without distress and to hold its drawing through repeated cleaning. For households with children, with pets, or with the casual spill habits of an everyday living room, this construction does the work the wool tier cannot.
The composition
The working palette is multicolour against neutral ground. The pattern resolves at room scale and rewards approach with detail in the drawing. The yarn was engineered for colour stability under direct light, which matters for a rug that lives where the windows are.

Care

- Vacuum gently once a week without a rotating brush bar — use the suction-only setting on hand-knotted or hand-tufted pieces.
- Rotate the rug 180° every 3-6 months so foot traffic and sunlight wear is even.

Storage
- Roll (do not fold) the carpet around a clean cardboard tube, pile-side in.
- Wrap in breathable cotton sheeting (not plastic) and store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
- Use moth-protection sachets if storing wool for more than a season.

Free standard delivery across mainland UK is 3–5 working days. Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland and remote postcodes typically take 5–7 working days. We’ll email a tracking link as soon as your order is dispatched.
Will the colour exactly match the photo?
Each rug is hand-crafted with natural-dye yarns, so a small variation in shade, pattern density, and tone is expected and is part of the authenticity of a handmade piece. Colours on screen also vary by monitor and lighting. If you are matching a specific decor, request a yarn sample before ordering.
Can I get a sample before buying?
Yes — we send 2-3 small yarn / pile samples for £25 (refundable against your purchase). Message us on WhatsApp or email us with the SKU and your delivery postcode to arrange a sample.
What is your returns process?
Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations you may return your order within 14 days of delivery for a full refund, in original condition (rolled, not folded; no pet hair, smoke, or stains). Email support@rugsville.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp with your order number and we’ll arrange a return collection. Refunds are processed within 3-5 working days of receipt at our warehouse.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes. Custom-size, custom-colour, and custom-design hand-knotted rugs typically take 8–14 weeks depending on size and complexity (production plus shipping to the UK). Minimum custom-order size is 4'×6'. Send us your brief on WhatsApp with the room photo and dimensions for a quote.
Do you ship to Europe / outside the UK?
Our online checkout currently ships to mainland UK only. For orders to the EU, Channel Islands or Republic of Ireland please email support@rugsville.co.uk with the SKU and full address — we’ll quote courier and any duties before processing.
