The grey palette in this rug was tuned by a studio that has been working in heat-set polypropylene for two decades. The yarn is dyed at the molecular level rather than at the surface, which means the colour does not fade under sunlight or dull with cleaning. The pattern was drafted in pencil, transferred to a digital cartoon, and proofed across three sample looms before the production run was committed.

The studio worked the design through several iterations of sample weaving before the production run was committed. The composition resolves at the scale of a room rather than at the scale of a swatch, and the grey register holds against the pattern without being overtaken by it. Production runs are tightly controlled so the colour reading from one batch matches the previous one to a perceptible degree.

The fibre

Heat-set polypropylene. The yarn is engineered so the colour is locked in by temperature rather than by surface pigment, which is why the saturation does not fade under sunlight the way printed colour fades. The fibre is stain-resistant at the molecular level: wine, juice, oil, and coffee lift with a damp cloth before they set. The pile stays flat under furniture and does not shed.

The composition

The grey register carries the composition. Lighter and deeper accents articulate the geometric drawing and break the field into zones that read as one work rather than as a repeating tile. The pattern was developed to give a room a considered ground without claiming ownership of it. Pairs with walnut, brass, leather, linen, raw oak, and warm wood floors and reads against bone, off-white, and mid-tone walls equally.

Machine-wash on a cool 30°C cycle if a spill resists spot cleaning; the size folds to fit a domestic drum. Dries flat in two hours. No professional cleaning required across the rug's life.
